Docudesk is in a very competitive environment, and to better understand our success and we wanted to know the reasons why all these various business segments regularly chose deskPDF over our competition. To find out, we conducted our own review of the competitive landscape.

Reason #1: deskPDF hit the mark on the value equation. deskPDF's competition falls on both ends of the spectrum - good yet expensive software or “quality challenged” software for free or low cost. 

Our take: We will not always be the least expensive, but we do want to provide value that warrants purchasing our products on a value per dollar basis.

Reason #2: Simple yet functional interface. 

Our take: Customer feedback and the desire to make the application as straight-forward as possible for most scenarios drove the interface to appear as it does today.

Reason #3: deskPDF accurately converts documents to PDF files where others fail. 

Our take: While the application is easy to use, a lot of work went into the logic to make PDF's appear properly. We continually strive to provide the best PDF conversion we can, we regularly hear that our product converts better than Adobe's and others. In a recent comparison versus Adobe and a product supposedly "designed" for CAD users, a customer's evaluation found our product was the best for converting their CAD drawings to PDF's. They also stated that deskPDF was able to convert AutoCAD SID files into PDF's where Adobe's Acrobat was unable.

Reason #4: Easy to deploy across large user bases with deskPDF Configuration and Deployment Tool.

Our take: Our research did not turn up another PDF software company that offered this functionality, including Adobe. From our perspective, without being able to define use profiles, customize, and package the product for deployment in a MSI (.msi), the lack of administrative control would make a large scale PDF deployment unnecessarily difficult. We also see not having these capabilities would significantly restrict the ability for businesses to adopt the PDF standard across the company as they had hoped.
